"Amen break" - впервые был придуман Gregory C. Coleman ("The Winstons"). Amen break представляет собой наиболее часто используемый drum loop сэмпл. Чаще всего его можно услышать в hip-hop и drum'n'bass.
Этот сэмпл длительностью 5,20 секунд состоит из 16 битов ломаного ритма, взятых из песни "Amen My Brother" которую в 1960 исполнили "The Winstons."
Сама песня стала известной в 1986 г. когда Louis Flores включил её в свой "Ultimate Breaks & Beats" bootleg. Louis сделал в этом сэмпле 4 перерыва между битами и проиграл его с замедленной скоростью. За счет этого он получил разницу в темпе в середине песни. Затем диджеи проигрывали оригинал и то, что получилось у Louisа на двух разных вертушках, совмещая биты. И наверняка у них выходила что-то неплохое....Я не учел многих мелких деталей.
